The Bears Still Not Saying a Word After the Nick Foles Trade is a Horrible Look
By Scott Rogust
To the shock of no one, the Chicago Bears were looking for an upgrade at the quarterback position this offseason after the Mitchell Trubisky project took a colossal step back in 2019. So the Bears opted to trade a compensatory 2020 fourth-round draft pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles.
The team finally made the news official this week via their official website, but it's lacking one thing: a statement from either general manager Ryan Pace or head coach Matt Nagy.
What are they doing in Chicago?
From the looks of it, it appears the Bears are still hellbent on pushing their belief that Trubisky can turn things around in 2020. But after last season, we know that's not the case, and the impatient fanbase may have seen enough. The Bears had one of the deepest and talented rosters in the entire league in 2019, but were significantly hindered by the play of Trubisky, who also dealt with injury issues. He significantly lacked the ability and confidence to throw the ball deep, which held the offensve back in a big way.
Foles joining the Bears made sense due to the structure of the coaching staff. Nagy was his quarterbacks coach while with the Kansas City Chiefs, while Bill Lazor and John DeFilippo held the same role during Foles' two stints with the Philadelphia Eagles. Foles' transition to starting quarterback would be seamless.
But the fact they're not saying anything about the deal since it became official is a bad look, and likely bad news for Trubisky.
