Mitchell Trubisky a Full Participant at Bears Practice Wednesday
By Michael Luciano
Matt Nagy might claim that Mitch Trubisky has a hip issue, but all appears to be well and good at Bears practice today.
The Chicago head coach benched Trubisky at the end of their primetime loss against the Los Angeles Rams Sunday, citing a hip injury. Trubisky showed minimal side effects from someone who just played with a busted hip, as he was a full participant in practice.
Some of Trubisky's numbers don't look so bad (1.4% interception rate, four picks on the year, 62.4% completions), but when you realize his passer rating is a below-average 82.2 and he is posting a pathetic 5.6 yards per attempt -- worse than the 6.1 he put up in his rookie season -- it becomes obvious that he's ultimately getting the criticism he deserves.
Trubisky has three poor secondaries in the Giants, Lions, and Cowboys all coming up. Let's hope that he figures himself out before Nagy has to throw Chase Daniel out there.
Bears fans are an impatient bunch, and they're starting to get frustrated with the lack of a competent quarterback situation, especially from someone who was drafted as high as he was and flashed so brightly last year on the way to an NFC North title. Trubisky is running out of chances to prove he's the guy in Chicago, but today's positive practice update is still good news.
