Bears Star Akiem Hicks Exits Game vs Redskins With Knee Injury
By Daniel Marcillo
The Chicago Bears walked out of the nation's capital with a big win, though they didn't escape unscathed.
Star defensive lineman Akiem Hicks was forced from the game after suffering a knee injury. It was a lopsided game throughout and it hurts to lose a player of his caliber, especially when the game is decided.
Bears fans will hold bated breath as they await further news on Hicks' knee, hoping that the injury isn't anything serious.
Hicks' knock came after the Bears lost receiver Taylor Gabriel to a concussion, after he and Mitch Trubisky connected for three touchdowns in just the second quarter.
Hicks made his first Pro Bowl last season and spearheads the Bears pass rush along with Khalil Mack. Despite the injury, Hicks was able to walk off the field under his own power and head to the locker room with the training staff.
Hicks did not return to the game, and it would be a huge loss for the Bears defense if they had to go without the 31-year-old for an extended period time.
Prior to his injury, Hicks had registered a quarterback hit and a fumble recovery against Case Keenum.
