Bears Wide Receiver Ted Ginn Jr. Says He Beat Usain Bolt in a Race Back in High School
By Tyler Kemp
Newly-acquired Bears wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. has made a career for himself in the NFL as one of the fastest players we've ever seen. Even entering his 14th year in the league, his game is still predicated on that same characteristic.
While it is well known that Ginn is fast, it is doubtful that anyone knew he was this fast. According to an interview with TMZ Sports, Ginn said that him and his high school relay team beat Usain Bolt and his running mates.
In the interview, Ginn says how he was the second leg of the 4x100 relay team that took down Bolt’s crew in 2004. In essence, he did not beat Bolt directly because the Jamaican speed demon was the anchor in that particular race. If Ginn is correct though, this means that he does hold bragging rights over Bolt, considering he gave his team the lead that it wouldn't relinquish.
Just last year, the 32-year old Bolt ran a 4.22 40-yard dash, tying former Bengals receiver John Ross III’s NFL Scouting Combine record. Ginn says he once ran a 4.22, but the fastest documented time that anyone has for Ginn is a 4.28.
One of these days, these two will have to meet up and settle the debate once and for all. Although both are over 30 years old, it's clear they can still turn up the jets, so it surely wouldn't disappoint.
