VIDEO: Ben Egli Twists Jake Ellenberger into a Pretzel for Surprise Win at Submission Underground 12
By Sam Dunn
Believe it or not, combat sports fans desperate for some good ol' belligerence really do have live action to watch right now. No, seriously! Submission Underground, a grappling promotion led by retired UFC legend Chael Sonnen, is live and direct from Portland, Oregon, and in the co-main event, Ben Egli got the best of Jake Ellenberger in the culmination of a slick ground display.
Submission grappling won't give you the bang-bang standup striking action or ground-and-pound goodness of mixed martial arts, but it ain't nothing. And right about now, we beggars cannot afford to be choosers.
I mean, was the great Carlos Condit supposed to fight Ellenberger before having to pull out earlier this week? Yeah, sure, But let's be thankful for late comer Egli, shall we? He stepped right up and delivered the pain we've all been clamoring for.
Oh, shoot. We take it back. Bad Egli!
