Ben Roethlisberger's Cheap Indirect Apology to Antonio Brown is too Little too Late
By Jerry Trotta
The time it takes somebody to apologize to alleviate a disagreement generally says a lot about a person.
In Ben Roethlisberger's case, the Steelers quarterback took nearly FOUR months to cheaply express his remorse to former teammate Antonio Brown during a Monday interview with KDKA Sports Director, Bob Pompeani.
The beef between the two Pro Bowlers came way back on Jan.1 after the teammates reportedly were involved in an altercation at a Steelers practice. Sure, AB was off his rocker for a large portion of last season, but in Big Ben's case, this apology was far too little and much too late.
"I genuinely feel bad about that and I'm sorry. Did I go to far after that Denver game? Probably..."
Sorry, Roethlisberger. You aren't fooling anybody. There is absolutely no evidence of genuine remorse in this quote. It really took you four months to come up with that stale of an apology?
So Ben is optioning toward blaming social media? If your relationship with Brown was so fond, why not describe what you miss about it? You were teammates with the guy for NINE years. During that time you would obviously develop some sort of friendship.
Effective apologies come from a place of integrity and sincerity and Roethlisberger simply failed to meet those ever-important standards. In the end, he solved nothing by issuing an apology four months after the fact.
