VIDEO: Ben Roethlisberger Spotted Throwing Football in Gym as Comeback Continues
By Michael Luciano
The Pittsburgh Steelers nearly made the playoffs with Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges at quarterback last season, so imagine what they could do with their resident Hall of Famer back in the lineup. After only playing six quarters last year due to a disastrous elbow injury that required surgery, Ben Roethlisberger was spotted throwing a ball in a local gym, indicating that he slowly but surely making progress in his return from the issue.
What happened to shaving after being cleared to throw, Big Ben?! What happened there?
Roethlisberger led the NFL with 5,129 passing yards in the 2018 season, showing that he can still fill up a box score after all these years when he is healthy and given time in the pocket.
Why this in no way, shape, or form indicates that he's ready to hop back into an NFL huddle anytime soon, it is in an encouraging sign from a quarterback that has always had durability problems that will only be magnified as he continues to get older.
Eli Manning has retired, and Philip Rivers is begging for one more chance to start now that the Chargers are done with him, but Pittsburgh seems more than comfortable with 38-year-old Big Ben under center once again. If he can stay healthy, Pittsburgh should challenge for the playoffs next season.
