Ben Zobrist Thanks Cubs for Graciously Giving Him the Time He Needed During Divorce
By Michael Luciano

Chicago Cubs utility man Ben Zobrist has rejoined the team for their stretch run, after a difficult divorce from his wife Julianna left him sidelined for the better part of the season as he allowed himself to recuperate.
Zobrist took the time to thank the Cubs organization for allowing him the freedom to take time off and get his life off of the diamond in order.
Zobrist: “I’m nothing but grateful for how they’ve handled the whole situation. They’ve given me the time and space needed to take care of my situation.”

Joe Maddon's versatile ace in the hole dating back to the pair's days with the Tampa Bay Rays, Zobrist is hitting .241 with no home runs and 10 RBI over 99 plate appearances this season. In 2018, he hit .305 on a Cubs team that made the playoffs once again under Maddon.
It remains unclear what the 38-year-old's role will be at this point in the season, but adding a veteran presence on a younger team like this is never a bad idea.
