Bengals WR John Ross to Miss 'Multiple Games' After Suffering Shoulder Injury vs Steelers
By Jerry Trotta
As if being thoroughly embarrassed by their divisional rival Pittsburgh Steelers on national television wasn't enough, the Cincinnati Bengals have just received significant injury news to a position where they were already alarmingly diluted.
Third-year wideout John Ross is expected to be shelved for up to a month with a shoulder injury that he suffered on Monday Night Football, reports insider Mike Garafolo.
Injuries plagued the former No. 9 overall pick throughout his first two seasons in the NFL, and just as he was finally just starting to display his potential in 2019 he went down with the injury.
Through the first four weeks of the year, Ross hauled in 16 receptions for 328 yards, which equates to a mind-boggling 20.5 yards per catch, to go along with three touchdowns.
With the Bengals offensive line shaping up to be one of the worst in the league, Andy Dalton needs as much talent as possible lined up out wide. Ross' injury complicates things even further as Tyler Boyd and Tyler Eifert now stand alone as Cincy's most experienced pass catchers.
Of course, Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard are more than capable of contributing in the receiving game out of the backfield, but they obviously can't fill Ross' shoes as one of the fastest receivers in the NFL.
Expect sophomore WR Auden Tate, who impressed when Ross went down Monday night, to fill in for the time being.
