The Chiefs have an illustrious history and their latest Super Bowl-winning team, which was largely built through the NFL Draft, only adds to that glory for Kansas City.

As of now, the Chiefs won't be making any selections past the fifth round this year, but it's interesting to know the talent Kansas City is capable of finding late in drafts. Perhaps the Chiefs' most impressive steal came in the seventh round of the 1984 draft.

With the 173rd overall pick in the 1984 NFL Draft, Kansas City selected Kevin Ross, a defensive back out of Temple University. Ross spent 11 total seasons with the Chiefs throughout his pro career and became one of the best defenders in franchise history.

Granted, Ross was selected when there were 12 rounds in the NFL's draft process, but he's definitely the most impactful player Kansas City took this late. The two-time Pro Bowler racked up 38 career interceptions and was inducted into the Chiefs' Hall of Fame in 2011.

Ross retired ahead of the 1998 season and has since enjoyed a career in the NFL as a defensive backs coach. Now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Ross is passing his expertise along to the next generation of standout cornerbacks.
