3 Best Players on the Broncos Under 25
By Stephen Lebitsch
The Denver Broncos are coming off a 2019 campaign under first-year head coach Vic Fangio that was disappointing, to say the least. Finishing 7-9 and not qualifying for the postseason, the Broncos dealt with quarterback troubles and a young, inexperienced offense that ranked in the bottom five in several categories. In 2020, they are returning with a similarly youthful roster, but will figure to count on an exciting core of players with a real chance to take over games.
3. Courtland Sutton
At age 24 and entering his third pro season, SMU product Courtland Sutton has grown into one of the Broncos' primary receiving targets. Selected 40th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, Sutton tallied the fourth-most receiving yards ever by a Broncos rookie with 704. Through 16 games in 2019, he compiled 72 catches for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns. Having the experience edge among the Denver pass-catchers, Drew Lock and Co. will rely on Sutton's hands and downfield speed to power their offense.
2. Jerry Jeudy
Jerry Jeudy hasn't stepped into an NFL stadium just yet, but there is an argument for the 21-year-old rookie to be one of the best on the Broncos 2020 roster from the jump. A First Team All-American and All-SEC selection in 2018, Jeudy was one of the top receivers in the country once again last season for Alabama. Besides his impressive college stat line, what Jeudy brings to the Broncos offense is speed, sharp and intelligent route-running, evasiveness, and respect from defenders. His acceleration, footwork, and ability to use his physicaltiy to win balls will upgrade the offense looking for exactly that.
1. Bradley Chubb
At 23 years old and entering his third season in the NFL with the Broncos, Bradley Chubb is central to the success of Fangio's defense. Chubb is destined to improve with time if he can remain healthy; following impressive totals at NC State (203 tackles, 26 sacks, eight forced fumbles), he continued this performance in the gridiron. In 2019, Chubb secured 21 tackles and a sack, but he only played four games. Needing a defensive anchor outside of Von Miller, Bradley Chubb in 2018 form is a powerful force in the pass-rushing corps.
