NCAA conference tournaments are being cancelled by the minute, as the NCAA Tournament appears to be in doubt as well due to the spread of coronavirus. Apparently, no one told the Big East Conference, as a game between St. John's and Creighton tipped off Thursday afternoon.

This is a wild scene. The Big East may end up being the only major conference to play its tournament. That makes absolutely no sense, given the precautions being taken by nearly every other conference, and we suspect things will change by the time this game ends.

The likely scenario is that this game is either cancelled at halftime, or is the last game played for quite some time. The Big East can't be the only conference still playing when everyone else has shut down. There is too much liability involved.

One important reminder for conference officials is that the tournament won't mean much if the rest of the season is cancelled. The Big East can't act like they are somehow invincible, and they need to do the right thing.
