Tied with the Patriots for the most Super Bowl wins of all time, the Pittsburgh Steelers naturally boast plenty of Hall of Fame players across their franchise's history. Stars like Terry Bradshaw, Mean Joe Greene, Lynn Swann and the newly elected Troy Polamalu will be remembered forever in Canton as all-time Steel City greats, but there is a handful of Pittsburgh players deserving of the call to the Hall that are disappointingly on the outside looking in, starting with this trio.

3. DL L.C. Greenwood

The late LC Greenwood was a member of four Super Bowl championship teams during the “Steel Curtain” era in Pittsburgh, teaming up with Greene on the defensive line to great effect. While sacks were not an official stat until the very first season after Greenwood retired, his accomplishments are enduring and his championship rings speak for themselves. He was a six-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time First Team All-Pro who deserves his rightful place in the Hall at long last.

2. OL Alan Faneca

Alan Faneca was a staple on the Steelers offensive line from 1998 until 2007. During that time, he helped protect a young Ben Roethlisberger on the way to winning Pittsburgh’s fifth Lombardi Tropy in Super Bowl XL. For his career, Faneca was a nine-time Pro Bowler, eight-time All-Pro and a member of the NFL’s All-Decade Team for the 2000’s. He may be the single most glaring Hall of Fame snub in football today, and his efforts in the trenches allowed Big Ben to find the next guy on this list on a weekly basis.

1. WR Hines Ward

Hines Ward is statistically the greatest Steeler receiver ever with exactly 1,000 catches to go along with more than 12,000 receiving yards and 85 touchdowns. Thes stats are good enough to give the former Georgia Bulldog the Steelers franchise record in all three categories. Beyond the box score, Ward was a four-time Pro Bowl selection, a three-time All-Pro, a two-time Super Bowl champion, taking home game MVP honors in Super Bowl XL. To top it all off, he might just be the greatest blocking wide receiver of all time.
