The Biggest Trap Game on Alabama's 2020 Schedule

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide have been the pride of the SEC West for the last decade. After a disappointing 2019 which saw them lose the throne to eventual National Champions LSU, Saban and Co. will look to right the ship this fall.

‘Bama’s schedule is relatively straight forward. Outside of a neutral site game against USC in Jerry World in Arlington, Texas, and a few usual cupcake games mixed in between SEC opponents, nothing else is too outside of the ordinary. One game that Saban’s crew will have to be ready for comes right before its most heated rivalry game every season against Auburn.

Playing against Texas A&M at home should not cause the biggest of problems, but head coach Jimbo Fisher will have the Aggies ready. The Tide could fall victim of looking ahead to playing the Iron Bowl just a week later rather than focusing on the task at hand.

Fisher has helped mightily to rebuild the A&M program following Kevin Sumlin’s departure. With the combination of one of the best game-planning coaches in the conference and a senior quarterback in Kellen Mond, A&M could be in prime position to contend with the Tide.

Dual-threat quarterbacks have always caused headaches for Saban’s defense. If Mond is riding a wave of momentum going into Tuscaloosa, then the Aggies could very well force the Crimson Tide into an old-fashioned trap game.
