VIDEO: Bill Belchick's Long Pause Following Media Question About Upset Loss to Miami Was Awkward

The New England Patriots were shocked by the Miami Dolphins in Week 17, losing 27-24 and dropping to the No. 3 seed in the AFC playoff pecking order. Bill Belichick usually lacks emotion in press conferences, but he took stonefacing to an even greater level Sunday during postgame media availability. He was asked a question about the final play of the game -- a failed attempt at last-gasp hook-and-lateral magic -- and responded with an uncomfortable pause... before asking the reporter to restate his question.

Belichick clearly wanted to be literally anywhere else and did not have much of anything to say. His answer of "it's our last play" when asked for details about the moment showed he didn't care to get into more detail about the loss.
Apparently, he's just here so he won't get fined. And if you think about it, his long pause may have also been done intentionally to avoid cussing out the reporter who asked the question.

The Patriots still finished 12-4 and will host their Wild Card game in Foxborough, but Belichick isn't happy about any of this. His expectation of a win every week is how his teams got to be so great under his tenure; he just needs to make sure he uses the loss as motivation and doesn't let it affect things come January.
