VIDEO: Bill Belichick Breaking Down Patriots Blocked Punt Further Cements His Legend Status
By Scott Rogust
The New England Patriots are 10-1 on the season following their Week 12 win over the Dallas Cowboys. While many groan at the constant success of the franchise up in Foxborough, the one thing everyone can agree upon is the brilliance of head coach Bill Belichick. During his weekly spot on the Patriots' website, Belichick showcased how he's a future Hall of Famer by describing his strategy on New England's blocked punt vs the Cowboys.
What a genius.
Belichick knew that with the wind traveling down the left side of the field, Cowboys punter Chris Jones would be kicking in that direction in order to gain more yardage. In response, Belichick sent pressure on the left hand side of the line of scrimmage, and sure enough, specialist Matthew Slater got his hands on the ball, forcing the block.
Not to mention Belichick spotted this and relayed it to his players in less than 30 seconds. Now that's a great head coach.
If you didn't have a full-on appreciation for the intellect of Belichick, you do now.
