Bill Belichick Addresses Demaryius Thomas Situation With Classic Non-Apology
By Adam Weinrib
Veteran wideout Demaryius Thomas was rightfully displeased by the way he was treated this offseason in New England.
Signed during the early portion of his rehab from a torn achilles, Thomas was jettisoned on cut day, then re-signed by New England...only to be let loose once again when Antonio Brown became available. Certainly, that was a decision with legs! Antonio Brown is famously still on the Patriots.
Thomas, a respected veteran, was rightly disturbed by the process, and felt like his presence in New England was a waste of time.
So, what did Coach Belichick have to say, in response to Thomas' qualms? Turns out, this was all a misunderstanding! He never lied, he just...told you a truth that ended up being not true.
Facts change. One day, your team has no chance of scheming the rest of the league to tamper with Antonio Brown's Raiders contract, and then suddenly that highly illegal option presents itself. What can you do?
Thomas, who is 31 and nearing 32 years old, is not really a nice kid anymore. Sheesh.
