In classic Bill Belichick fashion, fans and experts are still in the dark on what he plans to do at the quarterback position. With Tom Brady out of the picture, the Patriots have insisted Jarrett Stidham is their new starter -- but is that really feasible?

Stidham as the starter and Brian Hoyer as his backup does not inspire much confidence outside the building in NE, and Belichick didn't deny the possibility that they would find another player to take the reins on Thursday night.

While speaking with NFL Network, he said, "You never know what's going to happen," which is...kind of an answer.

It's more of an answer than Belichick is known to give, and the fact that he's open to the possibility is encouraging for Patriots fans who might not have much faith in Stidham.

The coach has been pretty insistent that they're capable of winning without Brady, but the new comments would suggest that winning might occur with name who's not currently on the depth chart.

With Andy Dalton off the market and the draft said and done, their chances at landing a true starting quarterback outside of their own locker room depend on whether they're willing to woo Cam Newton, or potentially Joe Flacco. The chances look a little better after Belichick's statement.
