On Friday, the NFL announced the reinstatement of wide receiver Josh Gordon, which is a welcome addition to a New England Patriots squad that could use more weapons on the outside.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick released a statement Saturday, giving his thoughts on the Gordon reinstatement. And, well, it's not going to fire up many people out there:

"For the past eight months, Josh’s situation has been entirely a league matter. When Josh returns to our program, we will evaluate the entire situation and do what we feel is best for Josh and the team."

Per usual, Belichick didn't say much on the matter. He and his staff will evaluate Gordon and make a decision on his future from there. Ok then, Bill?

Gordon will be able to officially re-join the team on Sunday, giving him less than a month to get ready before Week 1. While the Patriots need help at the receiver position, it's not a guarantee that he'll stick around all year.

Not only does he have to stay out of trouble with the league, he needs to prove he still has what it takes to be that No. 1 receiver he showed he was earlier in his career with Cleveland.

In 11 games with New England last year, Gordon racked up 720 receiving yards with three touchdowns.
