Bill Belichick Reportedly Mentioned Jarvis Landry's Guarantee to Patriots Players to Motivate Team
By Jerry Trotta
It's virtually pointless to keep conveying the palpable wisdom that NFL teams preparing to face the New England Patriots should just keep their mouths shut when asked for their thoughts on the upcoming matchup.
However, the Cleveland Browns are an entirely different breed of arrogant, as wideout Jarvis Landry came out on Thursday to audaciously (and perhaps moronically) guarantee a win for his 2-4 team, even though the Browns wideout claims he did no such thing.
In case you were wondering if Patriots players were aware of the trash talk, they are, and those who weren't were promptly filled in by head coach Bill Belichick.
Is it premature to swiftly write in a "5" to the Browns loss column? Based on how things turned out for Sam Darnold, who expressed a shred of doubt in the Patriots and their defense prior to Monday night's embarrassment, it's not at all impulsive.
The 22-year-old gunslinger finished 11-of-32 for 86 yards, zero touchdowns, 4 interceptions, and one lost fumble -- simply one of the worst performances that you will ever see from a QB -- en route to a 33-0 defeat.
You don't think that Belichick conveyed Darnold's foolhardy comments to his squad prior to the showdown on MNF? Of course he did.
We don't even want to fathom what is in store for Landry, whose excerpt was FAR more detailed and brazen to that of Darnold's, on Sunday.
All-pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore is surely expected to shadow Odell Beckham Jr, but we'd bet the house that Belichick and Co. will have something special (or cruel) planned in order to neutralize Landry as well.
