Despite exceeding expectations in the regular season and making the playoffs for the second time in three years, the Bills were bounced from the postseason in the Wild Card round.

Well, now focused on improving the roster in the offseason, one Bills blog suggested the team would be better off not re-signing defensive tackle Jordan Phillips.

The blog suggested the Bills look elsewhere this offseason, instead of retaining the 27-year-old for two main reasons -- money, as well as Phillips' play on the field.

After racking up a career-high 9.5 sacks in 2019, Phillips has certainly earned a payday. Whether or not it's in the best interest of the Bills to reward him financially, the DT is due for a raise.

However, despite his breakout season, the blog suggests that Phillips is inconsistent and is frequently "pushed out of the play."

Phillips didn't seem to agree with that assessment, citing the fact that he led the AFC in sacks and tackles for loss among DTs, despite playing significantly fewer snaps than his counterparts.

Phillips' contract situation with the Bills will be one to monitor throughout the offseason.
