Bills GM Brandon Beane Throws Shade at Antonio Brown With Comments About Free Agency Moves

Remember when the Buffalo Bills were on the cusp of acquiring then-Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, only to see the polarizing player strong-arm his way out of the trade?

Bills general manager Brandon Beane made it known that he's over the failed deal, but that didn't hold him back from taking shots at the former NFL star during an appearance on Barstool Sports' "Pardon My Take" podcast on Friday.

"You know what? Here’s one of the lines we have: Sometimes the best moves are the ones you don’t make," said Beane. “And that happens. Sometimes you’ve had a guy and you almost got him and at the last minute you didn’t and then something happened. He got hurt the first week of OTAs or the first game of the season and you’re going, ‘Man that would have cost me $12 million on my cap,’ or something like that. I would say sometimes on this one the best moves are the ones you don’t make."

That's an odd way of putting it, but it's clear that Beane is relieved that he bypassed what was sure to be an unrelenting headache in rostering Brown. Better still, the Bills saved a ton of money by pulling out of the trade.

At this point, Beane should have zero regrets. He might have looked foolish last offseason, but there's no denying he looks like the brighter man now. After all, his Bills are fresh off their second postseason appearance in three years.

As for Brown, well, his NFL career may be over after several run-ins with the law and countless other issues off the field. Beane has every right to flaunt confidence when referencing the AB trade that never came to be.
