Devin Singletary is Going to Hate Bills GM Brandon Beane's Comments on Rookie RB Zack Moss
By Michael Luciano
The Buffalo Bills figured out that the best way to maximize Josh Allen's talents was to support him with a quality running game, and former FAU star Devin Singletary did that by averaging 5.1 yards per carry and falling just short of 1,000 scrimmage yards as a rookie.
Buffalo gave Allen some more help when they used a third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on Utah running back Zack Moss, who has a running style some compared to Kareem Hunt. Even after his standout rookie season, Singletary isn't the lead dog in the Buffalo backfield, as GM Brandon Beane envisions that Moss and Singletary will "compete for all the carries."
Seems a bit rough for Singletary given the year he just had.
Singletary might have made his name as an elusive back with the leg power to withstand big hits from defenders, but Moss' game is more centered around running between the tackles. If Singletary accepts this timeshare, Buffalo should have one of the best rushing games in the league.
Constructing a "smash and dash" running back duo has fallen out of favor in the NFL, but the Bills might be able to ride the powerful and elusive Moss alongside Singletary to an AFC East title if they manage to get both of them touches.
