Bills GM Brandon Beane Has Stern Response to Sammy Watkins' Latest Comments
By Brady Williams
Kansas City Chiefs receiver Sammy Watkins spoke with Bleacher Report in an article that's been making the rounds on the internet since Tuesday. In it, he explains his views on life, death, the universe, and how his spirit may leave his body and inhabit another. You know, standard football offseason stuff.
After the article was released, its author, Tyler Dunne, spoke with Buffalo Bills radio station WGR 550 and claimed Watkins believed the Bills were interested in a reunion for the 2020 season. Unfortunately, the Buffalo Bills general manager is vehemently denying the claim.
Bills general manager Brandon Beane spoke to reporters, and was rather decisive in his response.
Beane's fairly abrupt reply seems to put a nail in Watkins' Buffalo career. End of discussion, indeed.
Watkins played three seasons in Buffalo after they moved up in the 2014 draft to take him over the likes of Khalil Mack and Aaron Donald. He had a single 1,000-yard receiving year, but failed to accomplish much else with the Bills. Beane's time with the organization began in Watkins' last year, and as part of the team's restructuring, he traded the troubled receiver. Watkins stated that he felt "bad energy" around head coach Sean McDermott, and admitted that his time in the City of Good Neighbors was plagued by off-the-field issues.
Though Watkins may have believed he'd have a second chance to make an impression for the Bills, it seems it won't be while Beane is around.
