Bills Reportedly Release LeSean McCoy
By Jerry Trotta
Is anybody truly safe on the NFL's annual day of cuts? Well, after this latest move, you might not think so.
Adam Schefter dropped a mini-bomb on Saturday morning, reporting that the Buffalo Bills are releasing veteran tailback LeSean McCoy.
Prior to his release, the Bills were rostering too many players at the running back position -- boasting the likes of McCoy, Frank Gore, T.J. Yeldon, and rookie third-round pick Devin Singletary.
In 14 games in 2018, Shady rushed for just 514 yards on just 3.2 yards per carry and he even took a step back in the passing game -- a dynamic he's excelled in over his 10-year career.
Sure, Buffalo's offense was a dumpster fire last season, it didn't take an expert to come to terms with McCoy's palpable regression.
The 31-year-old was expected to rake in a salary of $6.175 million in 2019, and releasing him now creates $6.425 mil for Buffalo to work with.
When you consider all the narratives, the move doesn't really come as a shock, and it could now be Singletary's time to shine in upstate New York.
