Blazers' Rejected Trade Offer to Cavaliers for Kevin Love Reportedly Revealed
Kevin Love was a big part of the Cleveland Cavaliers teams that advanced to the NBA finals four straight years, winning it all in 2016. Now, however, the 31-year-old veteran is an awkward fit on the rebuilding and dysfunctional franchise that is the Cavs. While Love is too professional to complain publicly, it is more than clear that he would be better suited with a contending team.
Apparently, the Portland Trail Blazers attempted to acquire the stretch big man. Cleveland was not swayed by the prospect of acquiring Hassan Whiteside and Kent Bazemore, however.
This move could have been a real spark for the Blazers, as Love's rebounding and shooting ability would have been a perfect complement to the athleticism and inside presence of the team's younger players.
It turns out, that had the trade gone through, we wouldn't be seeing the incredibly frustrated Love we have been seeing as of late, throwing hard passes and getting upset at the organization's generally terrible management.
Retirement? Sheesh. Luckily, that's just the rumor mill.
Clearly, there are issues plaguing the Cavaliers' franchise, and the only person who has been able to save it has been LeBron James. Love should do everything in his power to get out of this awful situation; he's surely disappointed a move to Rip City couldn't materialize.
