Blue Jays and Nationals Have Reportedly Talked Ken Giles and Daniel Hudson in Trade Discussions
By Parker White
The Toronto Blue Jays have arms in their rotation and bullpen who are garnering plenty of interest on the trade market, and according to Jon Morosi of MLB.com, the Jays and Washington Nationals "have been in contact" about relievers Ken Giles and Daniel Hudson.
The Nats have put themselves in the thick of the Wild Card and even the NL East race, but what's holding them back from taking another step forward is their lackluster bullpen. However, if they can land Giles or Hudson, you have to feel a lot better about this group fending off some challengers down the stretch.
Giles, 28, has bounced back nicely after a rough 2018 campaign and looks like a lockdown closer in the ninth. In 34 total appearances, Giles owns a 1.59 ERA with 14 saves and has 58 strikeouts across 34 innings.
Hudson, 32, didn't last very long as a starter, but for the first time in his career, he looks like a weapon out of the bullpen. In 42 appearances, the Jays right-hander owns a 5-2 record with a 2.80 ERA and has 44 strikeouts over 45 innings.
