Blue Jays Draft Player With Mind-Blowing Name in 16th Round
By Joey Mauceri
As the MLB Draft continues today with the late rounds, teams are hard at work looking for hidden, underrated value they can develop over time into workable big league talent.
The Toronto Blue Jays are one team with a young core that is on the come-up, with names like Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Cavan Biggio, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. headlining an attractive group of young talents. Looking to add to that core, they recently selected a prospect with an incredibly interesting name in the 16th round of the draft.
Jackxarel Lebron. Now THAT is a mouthful, to say the very least.
First things first, how does one even pronounce his first name? Jack-sa-rel? Jack-zuh-rel? I'd certainly like to know what the proper pronunciation is.
Having Lebron as a last name just makes it even better. Having the same name as arguably the greatest athlete of our generation is pretty cool, though placing unreal expectations on the kid isn't such a good idea.
According to Baseball Reference, there has never been a Jackxarel or a Lebron in the history of the MLB, so he is certainly a unique quantity. Here's to hoping that he turns into the kind of guy who can contribute in the Show, because every team's commentators should be forced to attempt to pronounce his impeccable name.
