Blue Jays Reportedly Trade Eric Sogard to Rays
By Mark Powell

With the Toronto Blue Jays ready and willing to sell their spare parts, the first domino has dropped.
Infielder Eric Sogard has the ability to play both shortstop and second base, and with his exceptional batting average so far this season, he's been an attractive commodity leading up to the trade deadline. On Sunday, someone finally bit and reached the Jays asking price.
The Tampa Bay Rays, desperately trying to hold on to contention after a rough couple of weeks (paired with Blake Snell injury news), have traded for Sogard, per multiple reports.

Ironically enough, this comes just a day after the Blue Jays rallied to defeat the Rays in a monumental comeback in what can only be expressed as Tampa's worst loss of the season so far. Perhaps that was the tipping point for management.
Infielder Eric Sogard has been traded to the Tampa Bay Rays, league sources tell ESPN. Multiple teams were on him but Toronto ultimately settled on a deal with Tampa Bay.

Sogard's numbers on the year are formidable, as he's hitting .300 with 10 home runs and a modest 30 RBIs.
For the Rays, this is purely a rental, as Sogard is a free agent at the end of the season. It's unknown what the Rays dealt to Toronto in return at this time.
