Blues Can't Afford to Return to St. Louis Down 2-0 to the Bruins
By Adam Godfrey
The Boston Bruins came back from a 2-0 deficit against the St. Louis Blues in Game 1, and ended up taking the series lead with a 4-2 victory heading into Game 2.
As for the Blues, they basically handed the game to the Eastern Conference champs after scoring their second goal, and only put 11 shots on Tuukka Rask from that point on across 39 minutes of play.
Heading into Game 2, this feels like a must-win situation for St. Louis, who certainly cannot accept heading back home in a 2-0 series hole.
The last time Boston entered a Game 3 with a 2-0 series lead, they won and subsequently swept the Carolina Hurricanes to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. Carolina has one of the loudest arenas in the league, but couldn't make any headway in front of their home fans. If the Blues see themselves needing to win two games to even up the series against an experienced Boston team, they can't love their chances.
Game 2 will tell us just what kind of series we have on our hands. Game 1 saw the Blues control the game for the majority of the first period, but following that, it was all Boston. St. Louis showed that they can outplay the Bruins and control the tempo of the game, and will need to do it for a full 60 minutes to even up the series as they head back home.
