Blues Would Be Making a Huge Mistake Letting Patrick Maroon Walk
By Charles Nason

We're well into the NHL offseason and some of the biggest names available are already off the board. However, there is still plenty of talent awaiting a new contract.
One of the many still available is 31 year-old St. Louis-native Patrick Maroon. Maroon was an integral part of the incredible St. Louis Blues' Stanley Cup run. With his future unclear, his hometown team would be smart to extend a contract offer.
Update on Maroon: a week into free agency, he remains unsigned. He has offers, but the belief is they’re all for one year. He’s looking for a couple years and the right fit and is willing to be patient. Several sources have said the Blues’ interest remains limited. #stlblues

Not only is Maroon a reliable forward who can deliver the occasional goal, but he's probably the best hype-man and character guy a team could ask for.
Knowing the pure joy that Maroon got out of bringing the first Stanley Cup to the city of St. Louis, he'd probably love to re-sign with the Blues. After all, they are the team he grew up rooting for.

Letting Maroon go would be an underrated and huge loss for the Blues. St. Louis still has a little over $12 million in cap space, which is more than enough to keep Maroon in the blue and gold. He's made it clear that he's looking for a multi-year deal and that is exactly what the Blues should offer him.
