Red Sox Starter Chris Sale Underwent an MRI After Complaining of Elbow Soreness Following Live BP
By Michael Luciano
In an offseason in which Mookie Betts and David Price were traded for pennies on the dollar, things are going from bad to worse for the Boston Red Sox.
Lefty ace Chris Sale, who saw his 2019 season end early due to an elbow injury, threw a live batting practice session on Monday, but felt soreness shortly after. Now, he's undergone an MRI. You've got to be kidding.
Sale, who regressed mightily last year after seeing his ERA more than double to 4.40 from 2.11 in 2018, was already scheduled to start the season on the injured list due to a battle with pneumonia.
This elbow injury could lead to something more serious than just soreness. Sale's MRI results will be sent to Dr. James Andrews, which is not the news Red Sox fans wanted to hear.
Never a good sign when Dr. Andrews gets involved.
After what has been a rocky offseason for the Red Sox, the regular season appears to be headed in the same direction now that their ace and arguably best overall player is dealing with what could be a serious injury.
