After avenging his loss against Alvarez and reclaiming the WBO title, Kovalev returns to his native Russia to face off against undefeated British up-and-comer Anthony Yarde.

Yarde, who rejected a seven-figure sum to fight Canelo Alvarez, is going into this fight with a perfect record of 18-0 with 17 knockouts, but hasn't faced anyone with punching power and pedigree even close to Kovalev.
Following the retirement of Ward, the light heavyweight division is wide open. Kovalev, who already has the WBO title, would almost certainly be in line for a fight against one of the other belt holders in his quest to unify that division and reassert himself as one of the scariest boxers in the world.
