Brad posted a graphic on Twitter to announce his decision, formally leaving the school to presumably finish out his two remaining years of eligibility at Detroit-Mercy. Calipari, who red-shirted last season in his junior year, appeared in 27 games as a freshman and sophomore, scoring 11 total points in his limited playing time.
Calipari thanked Kentucky for being a big part of his life, allowing him to grow up and get the opportunity to play college basketball.
Blessed to be in this position. Just want to thank everybody who’s been there along the way. Especially everyone who said I couldn’t. All the unseen hours of work paying off. It doesn’t stop now tho! #TheNextChapter @DetroitMBB pic.twitter.com/NIwjrAGLdk

Brad thanked his father for pushing him to be a better basketball player in a video posted to his social media, but stated that his desire to make an impact on the basketball court drove him to leaving Kentucky.
As a competitor, it must have been hard to sit on the sideline and watch others play on a daily basis, and now Calipari will be able to compete and make an impact for Detroit-Mercy's basketball program.
