Brady Quinn Has a Bold Prediction for Baker Mayfield and the Browns in 2020
By Michael Luciano
Pessimism reigns once again around the Cleveland Browns, as Baker Mayfield's sophomore slump in 2019 has led many to preemptively rule them out of the playoffs in 2020, having already handed the AFC North crown to the Baltimore Ravens and second place to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Former Browns quarterback Brady Quinn, however, thinks that Cleveland could hit their stride this season, as he thinks that the accurate young signal caller will make the playoffs and end the year as a top 10 quarterback in the league.
Mayfield threw a shocking 21 interceptions during his second season, but many have already written that off as a symptom of playing under a rudderless Freddie Kitchens.
He has more than enough talent around him given Nick Chubb, Odell Beckham Jr., and Jarvis Landry. The pressure is on for the Heisman winner from Oklahoma to resurface. Luckily, new head coach Kevin Stefanski's offense has consistently produced excellent numbers for quarterbacks, and the team drafted and signed talent spectacularly well this offseason.
If Mayfield returns to the form he showed as a rookie and the defense galvanizes, the Browns could contend for the playoffs.
Mayfield has a pivotal year ahead of him, even if he will be on his fourth head coach and offensive coordinator in three years. Cleveland fans might have to come to terms with the possibility he isn't the guy if he doesn't flourish in Stefanski's wide open offense.
