NFL Insider Suggests Eagles Are the Top Landing Spot in Potential Brandin Cooks Trade
By Jerry Trotta
The Philadelphia Eagles waiting as long as they have to address their pedestrian wide receiving corps has led many NFL analysts to believe the franchise plans on selecting one of the top wideouts in this year's draft with the No. 21 overall pick.
However, league insider Peter King is not of that mindset. The NBC Sports columnist believes that the Eagles are the top landing spot if the Los Angeles Rams were to make WR Brandin Cooks available via trade.
King predicts that the Eagles would be able to acquire Cooks by unloading their 2020 second-round pick, No. 53 overall. If Philadelphia chooses to do that, it could draft either a cornerback or a safety in the first round. Heck, the team could get crazy and still draft a receiver if they wanted.
Rumors surrounding Cooks were ignited when he fired off a highly cryptic tweet over in which he made it seem like change was needed. The 26-year-old speedster has not enjoyed his time with the Rams since being traded to the organization from New England in 2018.
Not only is Cooks now No. 3 on the depth chart behind Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, but he also dealt with two separate concussions in 2019 that ended his season.
The fit is apparent in that quarterback Carson Wentz has needed a playmaker for the better part of two seasons. The Eagles might want to think about rescuing the Oregon State product.
