Cole Hamels Makes it Clear He Would Leave Family to Play Baseball This Season
By Michael Luciano
The 2020 MLB season has been on hiatus for the better part of two weeks, and some are skittish about the game's future. Other stars, though, are so antsy to get out of the house and return to the normal routine of an MLB season that they're willing to do basically anything and go anywhere.
In an interview with FOX Sports South, Atlanta Braves starter Cole Hamels said he would be willing to totally leave his family in order to play baseball at one of the MLB's proposed alternate locations for the start of the season.
You think his wife Heidi is all in on this plan?
"It is going to be the time where we have to kind of sacrifice and go and start either training or playing in some location where (family) might not be able to come and watch us," Hamels said. "If they're able to watch us on TV, I think that's where it's at."
The MLB has discussed several unusual scenarios for re-starting the season, ranging from playing in Japan to starting the season in July. Hamels and first baseman Freddie Freeman are both chomping at the bit and angling for a return to live game action, whether it be in Arizona, Florida, or Atlanta.
Whenever and wherever the first few games of the 2020 season ate played, you can bet Hamels will be fired up and ready to go.
