Braves Continue to Give Back to the Community With Baseball on Hold
By Brady Williams
Major League Baseball won't be back for a little while, but even without games being played, the Braves have had a huge presence in Atlanta. The organization has established two different food programs for residents in the community amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Atlanta Braves Foundation Director Danielle Bedasse said the franchise began planning how they would begin providing relief from the moment the season was postponed. Now, they've taken things to a new level.
The first of the two programs is the Home Plate Project, which Bedasse says is on track to make 43,000 meals in six weeks. The project uses food that was originally intended to be used for concessions at Truist Park and donates them to people who can't afford to feed themselves during the pandemic.
The food programs are the latest efforts the Braves have put forth to help people across Braves country. They had previously established a fund for their employees who could no longer come to work.
Their other program is Meals for the Brave. That program serves as support for local restaurants, while also providing meals to medical workers.
