Braves' Dallas Keuchel Strikes Out 4 in 2nd Minor League Start
By Karl Rasmussen
Dallas Keuchel recently signed with the Atlanta Braves, but before he's ready to get back into the big leagues, he's completing a few starts as part of a minor-league assignment.
He was in pitching for the Braves' Double-A affiliate on Saturday, and he produced a solid line in the outing.
Keuchel tossed 106 pitches across 7.0 innings of work. He surrendered 11 hits and 3 earned runs, but only walked 1 batter and fanned 4.
It wasn't perfect by any means, but Keuchel is showing that he's capable of lasting deep into games, a major signifier that he's ready to face major league hitters.
The Braves are hoping that this is the last stop in Keuchel's minor-league stint, and he should be able to join the rotation in Atlanta next week, unless Brian Snitker wants him to have another go with Mississippi.
With the Braves overtaking the Phillies for the NL East lead, the time is ripe for Keuchel to step in as reinforcements for Atlanta.
