The Atlanta Braves are making some much-needed changes to the bullpen.

RHP Shane Carle was designated for assignment on Wednesday to make room on the Braves' 40-man roster for RHP Jeremy Walker, who was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett. RHP Wes Parsons was optioned to make room on the 25-man roster.

This move comes after a 2018 season during which Carle pitched to the tune of an impressive 2.86 ERA across 63 innings of play. But he was highly inconsistent, beginning the season on a high with a 0.69 ERA in his first 26 innings, but finishing his last 37 innings of work with a 4.38 ERA and a 24 to 21 K/BB ratio.

He has been off the Braves big-league roster since early May after allowing 10 runs in just 9.1 innings, and is now off of the 40-man roster after struggling to a 5.13 ERA in 33.1 innings for Triple-A Gwinnett.

Carle's designation allows the Braves to option Wes Parsons to Triple-A, who holds a 1-2 record and a 3.52 ERA out of the bullpen this season.

Parsons will be replaced by Triple-A pitcher Jeremy Walker. As a fifth-round pick in the 2016 MLB Draft, Walker is a combined 2-6 with a 2.84 ERA on the season, spending time with both Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett.

Walker will be activated and in the bullpen when the Braves host the Kansas City Royals Wednesday night.
