Braves Donate $1 Million to Help Ballpark Staff Cope With MLB Shutdown
By Brady Williams
As Major League Baseball continues its hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of the hourly workers in the nation's many ballparks have been left without work. With no specific end to the trouble in sight, it's created an uneasy situation for the day-to-day laborers that would otherwise keep baseball games running.
Fortunately, the Atlanta Braves are offering some assistance to their employees.
Wednesday morning, the Braves revealed that they've put together a fund for their ballpark staff to the tune of $1 million. This is nothing short of a tremendous act by the NL East powerhouse.
The fund will draw money from The Atlanta Braves Foundation, the franchise's non-profit branch that focuses on community-based outreach within the greater Atlanta area. Atlanta also isn't alone in its efforts.
Commissioner Robert Manfred announced that all 30 MLB teams have collaborated to reach a standardized amount of money each club would commit. During this difficult time, MLB is coming together to help those less fortunate.
This includes the Braves, who continue to be nothing but class.
