Braves Executive Indicates Team Could Be Big Spenders This Offseason After Will Smith Deal
By Sean Facey

The Braves have been one of the few teams that have been active in the early stages of the offseason. They've signed back veteran outfielder Nick Markakis and brought in one of the top relievers of this year's free agent market in Will Smith.
Even after all of that, they may still be looking for more. Team executive Greg Maffei still expects the team to be big spenders this offseason, which is obviously music to fans' ears.

It's not entirely unreasonable. Atlanta is incredibly young and is flush with cost-controlled talent. The Braves still have plenty of money left in the tank to spend on the big-name free agents that remain.
Total money spent so far this offseason on MLB free agents:

Atlanta Braves - $64.25M
Minnesota Twins - $17.8M
Chicago White Sox - $17.8M
St. Louis Cardinals - $5M
Other 26 teams combined - $0
Considering how disappointing the end of last season was for the Braves, it seems inevitable that they'll drop big bucks to try and make another run at the World Series. It's just a question of who they plan to spend the money on.
There are an endless amounts of possibilities for Atlanta this offseason. In a free agent class as deep as this one, there are some elite options out there.

It sounds as though free agency fireworks are still in the making for the 2019 NL East champions. Their roster could look incredibly different come next year.
