Braves Fans Should Be Encouraged by Dallas Keuchel's Latest Start
By Parker White
The Atlanta Braves were shutout for just the second time this season against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night, and it wasn't because they didn't get a strong start from left-hander Dallas Keuchel.
Outside of one mistake to Jay Bruce, Keuchel pitched great and tossed seven innings, allowing just two runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
“I think I’m there mentally and physically,” Keuchel said after the game. “So hopefully, we can start rolling.”
You have to tip your cap to Phillies starter Aaron Nola, who looked like the ace they've been waiting to see all season, throwing eight shutout innings with eight strikeouts.
The final result wasn't what the Keuchel and the Braves wanted, but the former Cy Young winner looked great last night and should bring a lot value to this rotation down the stretch, which couldn't be said after his first two starts.
He was getting great movement on his pitches and forced a lot of weak contact on the infield. That's what Keuchel does when he's on top of his game, which he certainly was last night, giving fans a lot to look forward to when he toes the mound once every fifth day, despite suffering the loss.
You can't base everything off the results. The offense was held in check, but you can take a win from this because of the way Keuchel threw the ball. Things are looking bright in Atlanta.
