Yesterday, it was announced right-handed pitcher Julio Teheran would be signing a one-year pact with the Los Angeles Angels following a 12-year stint with the Atlanta Braves organization (both minors and majors).

For those of you that have followed things from Day 1, Teheran was once billed as being the future ace of the franchise. While he never quite lived up to his billing, Teheran was a valuable member of the team's pitching staff for years.

Teheran was at his best for Atlanta during the 2014 season, when he won 14 games while sporting a 2.89 ERA. Teheran was a two-time All-Star with the Braves, however many will write off his run with the team as a disappointment, given the lofty expectations that came with him when he debuted in 2011.

Once the fifth-ranked prospect by Baseball America, many saw Teheran as the next big thing.

While those expectations ultimately fell flat, Teheran was a quality arm for the Braves, and replacing him will be tough. The Angels valued him enough to give him $9 million for this upcoming season, a prove-it deal that could ultimately revitalize the former top-prospect's career.

While it was a quiet exit for a once prized asset, Teheran's bittersweet exit from the Braves organization should eventually be reflected upon kindly. For years, he was a rock for the team's rotation, anchoring the pitching staff admirably during a period of turnover that ultimate saw the team climb back to the top of the NL East.
