Freddie Freeman Exits Game Early for Braves With Elbow Issue
By Sam Dunn

The Atlanta Braves are off to a positive start against Max Scherzer and the Nationals this evening, but with the start of the bottom half of the fourth inning came a development that wasn't met with positivity. Superstar first baseman Freddie Freeman didn't trot out to man his position; instead, he was pulled due to soreness in his elbow.

Fortunately for fans of the NL East leaders, Freeman -- who turned 30 years old on Thursday -- got the hook only for precautionary reasons. There's no indication that this problem is serious.
In the meantime, Charlie Culberson has taken over at first base.

It's been another tremendous season for Freeman. He entered the evening tied with Washington's Anthony Rendon for the MLB lead in RBIs with 117, plus a healthy slash line of .303/.393/.558. Braves fans will rightly be awaiting a positive update on that elbow of his later tonight.
