Just one day after knocking out a pair of home runs during the Braves' win over the Phillies, Dansby Swanson will be taken out of the starting lineup until Sunday due to a sore left quad.

It's likely just a precautionary move from the Braves, opting to rest their star shortstop instead of risking further injury.

This setback comes in the middle of a career season for Swanson, who is having one of the best offensive campaigns for a shortstop in franchise history.

Through 88 games this season he’s hitting .274 with a .334 OBP, 58 runs scored, 17 home runs, 57 RBI, and 7 stolen bases. The home runs are already a career high for him, he’s two runs scored away from his best-ever mark, and needs just three RBI to top his career best.

At one of the deepest positions in baseball right now, Swanson is easily within the top ten in the league this season. He’s eighth in MLB among shortstops with an OPS of .834, he’s fourth in runs scored, sixth in hits, fourth in home runs, third in RBI, and seventh in slugging.

Swanson is expected to continue his breakout year with a return to action on Sunday. But until then, Johan Camargo will be filling in at shortstop.
