Braves, Nationals and Twins Reportedly All Have 4-Year, $100 Million Josh Donaldson Offers on Table
By Michael Luciano

One of the few major free agents left on the market is on the verge of signing a deal, and his new contract could reportedly top $100 million.
Third baseman Josh Donaldson, just a few years removed from winning the AL MVP award with the Toronto Blue Jays, reportedly has three offers on the table that could top $100 million over four years. The Atlanta Braves, Washington Nationals, and Minnesota Twins are all in play for the veteran slugger, having submitted nine-digit bids for the 34-year-old.

Donaldson hit .259 with 37 home runs last year, while posting a WAR of 6.1 that was boosted by his trademark excellent defense.
The Braves have long been mentioned as the frontrunners for Donaldson's signature, but were originally nervous about giving him a fourth year on the contract. It seems that they've realized that extra year might be the only way to secure his signature.

While apprehension over giving a 34-year-old a nine-figure contract when he is just one year removed from the worst season of his career is understandable, Donaldson proved that he can hit cleanup night in and night out for a team with championship aspirations, and all three of his potential suitors could end up vying for a pennant if they can reel in this big fish free agent.
