On Tuesday, the Atlanta Braves reinstated left-handed pitcher Sean Newcomb from the seven-day concussion injured list. To make room for him on the active roster, the Braves have optioned right-handed pitcher Chad Sobotka to Triple-A Gwinnett.
The #Braves today returned LHP Sean Newcomb from his major league rehabilitation assignment and reinstated him from the 7-day concussion injured list. Following last night’s game, the club optioned RHP Chad Sobotka to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Back on June 15, Newcomb was hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto. He passed the initial tests, but a few days later he started feeling some of the effects and was placed on the shelf.

Newcomb was then sent to Gwinnett for a rehab assignment. After tossing two scoreless innings on Saturday, allowing one hit and striking out five hitters, the Braves southpaw has been reinstated and will head back to the bullpen. Obviously, this is good news for the club.
In 20 appearances this season, Newcomb is 1-0 with one save, a 2.12 ERA and 29 strikeouts over 34 innings of work.
