Braves Release Full Roster for NLDS
By Jerry Trotta
If you (somehow) weren't already hyped for postseason baseball after the enthralling NL and AL Wild Card Game's, this news is guaranteed to do the trick.
The Atlanta Braves have officially released their full 25-man roster for their NLDS clash against the St. Louis Cardinals, which commences Thursday evening.
The list features some surprising exclusions and confirmed the earlier report that Brian Snitker was leaning towards leaving right-hander Julio Teheran off the roster.
It looks as though the Braves are set to roll with a three-man rotation of Dallas Keuchel, Mike Foltynewicz and Mike Soroka for the series. Max Fried is included on the roster, but it remains to be seen if he will be deployed as a starter in a potential Game 4.
The final roster also did not include relievers Jerry Blevins, Anthony Swarzack, Kyle Wright, or Bryse Wilson.
Instead, Shane Greene, Luke Jackson, Josh Tomlin, Chris Martin, Darren O'Day, Mark Melancon, and Sean Newcomb will make up the Braves' bullpen.
Atlanta will have to make due without the likes of Ender Inciarte, Johan Camargo, and Charlie Culberson -- all of whom are nursing juries. In order to fill out the bench, the Braves opted to include left-handed hitter Rafael Ortega on the roster, who drew the nod over rookie slugger Austin Riley.
How are we feeling, Braves buffs?
