Braves Reportedly Sign Free Agent First Baseman Yonder Alonso
By Mark Powell

Yonder Alonso, once a legitimate power threat from the left-handed side of the plate, will look to revive his career in the ATL.
Alonso has signed a minor-league deal with the Braves, in hopes of making the major league roster out of Spring Training. He'll be competing for playing time behind Freddie Freeman at first base, a slot currently held by the likes of Austin Riley and Adeiny Hechavarría, per Atlanta's depth chart.

Alonso had a year to forget in 2019, hitting below the Mendoza line in 121 at-bats. He did add ten home runs, but lost any chance at a starting gig with the White Sox and then later in the season, the Rockies.

Alonso is far from a major free agent signing, but his power bat paired with reliability in the field makes for an interesting pairing should he show out in Spring Training.
He's no Marcell Ozuna, but the Braves already took care of that need.
